Prospective Employees 

J. F. Travers, Inc. employs both truck drivers/laborers and operators, plus we maintain one full-time mechanic.  Our employee turnover is low because our employees tend to return year after year.  We value the loyalty and dedication of our employees because our company is only as good as the work it performs, and the work is only as good as the performance of the employees.  It is the expectation of both the company and the current employees that we hire only the most capable, industrious, and reliable job candidates.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or legal residency.

  • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license (CDL for truck drivers).

  • Ability to lift 100 pounds.

The work involves strenuous labor requiring the capability of climbing in and out of six foot deep trenches without assistance.  Work is performed outdoors in all types of inclement weather conditions.  Work is normally 40 hours per week with overtime required on many occasions.  Most of the work is performed during the months April to December with furloughs during the winter months.  The number of employees recalled or newly hired each season is dependent on the number of contracts secured for the upcoming year.

Special Requirements:  Each employee must be able to pass a criminal background check along with pre-employment and post-employment random drug testing.
